The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation (FMEI) was founded in 1986. Since then, it has established itself as one of the leading mechanical engineering faculties in Bulgaria, with a modern material base and highly qualified faculty members. Thanks to this, the education is at a high level, as evidenced in the countries of the European Community.
The good scientific and language training obtained allows students from the faculty to conduct internships and diploma projects in institutes and companies with which bilateral international agreements have been concluded.
FMEI maintains traditionally good relations with other mechanical engineering and mechanical-technological faculties in the country, as a member of the Association of Mechanical-Technological Faculties in Bulgaria.
The departments and faculty members of the faculty develop creative and professional contacts with a number of industrial enterprises in the country and the region.
The international contacts of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation are expressed in the development and deepening of bilateral ties with partners from Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Greece, etc.
Under the European Socrates/Erasmus program, the faculty has concluded agreements with universities in Germany, France, and Spain, under which international exchange of teachers and students takes place.
Faculty members, doctoral students, and students from FMEI carry out scientific research activities through the development and participation in international, national, and industrial projects. The results of scientific and applied research are presented and published at prestigious scientific forums in the country and abroad.
FMEI has a total of six departments in its structure:
- Machine tools and technologies;
- Mechanical engineering and instrumentation;
- Transport and aviation technology;
- Mechanics;
