Industrial Management

The “Industrial Management” program celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2012. It was established with the aim of training professionals with a higher education degree and the qualification of “Engineer-Manager” in the professional field of “General Engineering,” who would be able to meet the challenges facing our country in a market economy. It strikes a balance between knowledge and skills in two areas: engineering and industrial management.The curriculum for students in the “Industrial Management” program is organized in such a way that theoretical training for knowledge acquisition is skillfully combined with applied assignments and internships to build practical skills.The program is conducted in Bulgarian as a full-time program.

A high school diploma is required for admission.

The competitive score for prospective students in all majors is calculated by adding one of the following scores to the math and physics grades listed on the high school diploma:

– a grade from a successfully passed national high school graduation exam (matura) in Bulgarian language and literature, mathematics, or physics from 2008 through 2014, inclusive, multiplied by 2.8;

– a score from the mathematics test (preliminary or regular), multiplied by 3.

The program for earning a bachelor’s degree in this major lasts 4 years. It includes courses designed to provide students with sufficient foundational and specialized training in engineering and management, including:

basic training in core engineering disciplines;
systematic knowledge of the general and functional areas of modern enterprise management;
advanced computer literacy, skills in working with modern software packages for engineering and management activities, and in utilizing information from global, regional, and specialized information networks;
training to perform organizational and managerial functions in enterprises and their units, as well as in state administrative institutions.

Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in “Industrial Management” can work in all state-owned enterprises and organizations in positions requiring a college degree and professional training in this field, as well as in private-sector companies and enterprises. They find employment in large and medium-sized enterprises as specialists in departments and units dealing with production management, marketing, human resources, technical and economic analyses, the implementation of innovation and investment projects, and more.

Graduates of the program also succeed as business entrepreneurs and managers of small and medium-sized manufacturing and service companies.

The strong engineering and economic training and the excellent reputation of bachelor’s degree holders in “Industrial Management” from TU-Sofia, Plovdiv Branch, provide a solid foundation for continuing their education in a wide range of master’s programs at all Bulgarian universities, as well as at universities abroad.
