The rapid development and improvement of computer technologies, as well as the large number of IT companies working in the field of creation and application of computer and information technologies, necessitate the need for highly qualified professionals using modern technological innovations. Due to the high demand for well-prepared specialists in the field of computer science in all spheres of public and economic life – industry, science, business, education, healthcare, transport and others, interest in training at the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies is permanently high.
Faculty Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies (FCST) was founded in 1987 and is one of the largest faculties at the Technical University – Sofia. Its structure includes four departments: Computer Systems Programming and Computer Technologies, Information Technologies in Industry and the department Cybersecurity.
Over 1600 students are studying at the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies (FCST), of whom approximately 1300 are bachelor's students and over 300 are master's students. Every year, approximately 200 bachelor engineers and around 70 master engineers graduate from the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies. There are approximately 40 doctoral students. The bachelor's and master's diplomas of the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies are internationally recognized and fully comply with the requirements of the European Union.
The teaching staff of FCST trains students from the other basic faculties of the Technical University – Sofia, as well as from the three foreign-language faculties. They actively participate in training within the Sector for Postgraduate Studies at the Center for Continuous Training (SSDO/CCT) at TU-Sofia, as well as in training at the Professional High School of Computer Technologies and Systems – Grad Pravets.
The faculty has approximately 20 research and teaching laboratories. They are equipped with the most modern computers, specialized high-tech hardware, various peripheral devices, and laboratory kits.
FCST periodically publishes the scientific-technical journal "COMPUTER & COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING", where scientific articles in the field of computer systems and information technologies are published.
Faculty members from the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies (FCST) ) teach students from the other core faculties at the Technical University of Sofia, as well as from the three faculties of foreign language instruction. They actively participate in training programs offered by the Postgraduate Education Sector at the Center for Continuing Education (SSDO/CNO) at TU-Sofia, as well as in training at the Vocational High School of Computer Technologies and Systems in Pravets.
The faculty has approximately 20 research and teaching laboratories. They are equipped with state-of-the-art computers, specialized high-tech hardware, various peripheral devices, and laboratory kits.
The Faculty of “Computer Systems and Technologies” maintains fruitful collaborations with many universities and institutes in Europe, as well as a successful track record with the “Erasmus+” program for student and staff exchanges. Faculty members and students participate in numerous international and national research projects. The Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies also organizes the international scientific conference “Computer Sciences.”
The Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies maintains close cooperation with numerous leading IT companies in Bulgaria, aimed at providing students with modern, high-quality education and professional training. This active partnership with the business community also contributes to the excellent career prospects of computer engineering graduates.
The Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies periodically publishes the scientific and technical journal “COMPUTER & COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING,” which features scientific articles in the field of computer systems and information technology.
