The Department of Programming and Computer Technologies was established in 1984. It provides and conducts programming and informatics training for students from all professional fields at the Technical University of Sofia, as well as training in the faculty's offered specialization "Computer Technologies and Applied Programming" for the master's degree level.
The department's faculty members actively participate in teaching students from the other main faculties of the Technical University of Sofia, as well as from the faculties for training foreign students. They teach specialized disciplines corresponding to their scientific field. They lead the following courses:
- "Information and Communication Technologies" and "Internet Technologies" for all specialties at the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Energy and Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Industrial Technologies, and the Faculty of Transport;
- "Introduction to Programming" and "Basic Programming Languages" at the Faculty of Telecommunications;
- "Object-Oriented Programming" and "Multimedia Technologies".
