The Department of "Computer Systems and Technologies" (CST) was established in the spring of 1993. Student training in the field of computer engineering began as early as 1985, and the first regular graduating class was admitted in 1987. However, in 1993, the department was established as an independent unit. Five years later, the three-tier education system was introduced.
The department has a modern material and technical base that supports the educational process and scientific activities. Specialized laboratories have been established for:
- Computer networks and distributed systems;
- Digital circuit design and computer organization;
- Microprocessor technology and computer design;
- Analysis and synthesis of logic circuits and computer architectures;
- Image processing and 3 computer labs.
All laboratories and computer rooms are connected to the university computer network with access to the internet space.
The study plans for the educational qualification levels of "Bachelor" and "Master" at CST correspond to and cover all areas of knowledge defined in the guidelines of ACM and IEEE-Computer Society for developing study plans in the specialty of Computer Engineering. The curricula of the studied disciplines overlap by more than 90% in topic and content with the corresponding disciplines in similar specialties at a number of leading world universities.
