The Department of Electronics is the leading department for the eponymous specialization, where students are trained in all three educational levels – bachelor, master, and doctor. As an independent department, it was separated from the Scientific-Educational Center for Electronics and Electronic Technologies in 1995. Four years later, in 1999, it was renamed the Department of Electronics.
There, 13 lecturers work (7 associate professors and 3 senior assistants, of whom 2 hold the educational and scientific degree of doctor), and the teaching process is supported by a technologist and a technical executor. All lecturers are highly qualified. In addition to various scientific fields, the lecturers also have excellent linguistic, pedagogical, and practical training. Distinguished scientists and specialists from practice are invited as guest lecturers.
The lecturers conduct teaching for students from various specializations in both faculties (Faculty of Electronics and Automation and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation) of TU-Sofia, Plovdiv Branch, with the Department of Electronics being the main leading unit for the "Electronics" specialization.
The lecturers from the Department of Electronics participate in numerous contracts under national and international programs, as well as in commercial contracts with national and international companies.
