General Information
The Department of Air Transport prepares specialists with higher aviation education for the needs of civil aviation. It is located in Block 10 of the Technical University – Sofia and is a leading academic structure in the field of aviation technology, technologies, and the operation of aircraft.
Specialty "Aviation Technology and Technologies"
The department trains aviation engineers – bachelors and masters – in the specialty "Aviation Technology and Technologies". The training is aimed at the needs of civil aviation and offers two main profiles:
- Operation and Maintenance of Aircraft
- Operation of Electronic Instrument Aviation Equipment
The study plans are developed in accordance with the requirements of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Pilot Training
Graduates of the specialization bachelor's degree holders receive recognized theoretical training for amateur pilots in airplanes or helicopters.
Graduates masters acquire theoretical training for professional pilots of fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters in civil aviation.
For bachelors who wish to continue their training as professional pilots, the department provides the opportunity to complete the theoretical training through postgraduate study.
The curricula have been developed in accordance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Pilot Training
Graduates of the Bachelor’s programme receive recognised theoretical training for training as amateur aeroplane or helicopter pilots.
Graduates of the Master’s programme acquire theoretical training for training as professional aeroplane or helicopter pilots in civil aviation.
For Bachelor’s graduates who wish to continue their training to become professional pilots, the department offers the opportunity to complete their theoretical training through a postgraduate programme.
