The activities of the Department of Electronic Engineering” officially began in 1962. The Department conducts teaching and research activities in the fields of Electronic Components and Integrated Circuits“, “Analog Circuit Design“, “Pulse, Digital and Microprocessor Circuit Design“, “Measurements in Electronics“, “Theory of Electronic Circuits and Automation of Design in Electronics“, “Applied Electronics“, “Biomedical Engineering“ and “Nuclear Electronics“. The faculty members of the Department carry out the main part of the curricula for the specialty “Electronics” for academic degrees (OQS) “Bachelor” and “Master”. The Department prepares highly qualified engineers in the specializations “Electronic Devices and Systems” and “Biomedical Engineering”. The faculty members of the Department of “Electronic Engineering” conduct teaching in academic disciplines across all faculties of the Technical University of Sofia, including all foreign-language specialties.
Department of Electronic Engineering” successfully conducts training for postgraduates and doctoral students.
In addition to Bulgarian citizens, a large number of foreign students (Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Vietnam, Panama, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Greece, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Benin, Palestine, Libya, Ghana, Jordan, Lebanon, Nigeria, South Africa, Yemen, Tanzania, Cameroon, Portugal, Sudan, Egypt, etc.) have also completed their education and graduated from the department.
The department's scientific activities are implemented through the participation of its members in numerous international and domestic projects. The faculty members of „Electronic Engineering” publish articles in prestigious international and national journals and deliver presentations at major conferences. With the active participation of the department every hour an International scientific c is organizedconference "Electronic Engineering".
The last major international success was achieved by second-year Master's students specializing in "Electronic Devices and Systems", Tsvetan Marinov and Petia Popova. They won the prestigious third place in the European Analog Design Contest 2013 organized by the American technology giant Texas Instruments. They achieved this success with their project "Electronic System for Recording Atmospheric Electrostatic Field" under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Mitko Mitov. Our representatives were among the 22 teams admitted to the final in Germany, outperforming competitors from renowned universities with over 500 years of history.
