Graduates of the specialization acquire competencies to carry out research, design, construction, technological, organizational-management, and consulting activities related to the objects of the specialization.

They are prepared to work as "master engineers" in enterprises and companies in the field of mechanical engineering production in the public and private sectors, as well as in research, design, technological departments and laboratories, in consulting and trading firms, and in the state administration.

The admission to the specialization "Machine Technology", educational and qualification level (EQL) "master", is conducted through a document-based competition. Applicants must have completed

• EQL "bachelor" and/or "master" in specializations from professional field 5.1. Mechanical Engineering – duration of study 2 semesters;
• EQL "professional bachelor" in specializations from professional field 5.1. Mechanical Engineering – duration of study 4 semesters.

The training in the specialty "Machine Tool Engineering" at the Master's level covers three groups of disciplines:

• Mandatory disciplines: Modeling of technological processes in machine tool engineering, Nanomaterials and nanotechnologies in machine tool engineering, Strength, failure and computer engineering analysis, Technologies for final processing, Reliability of technological systems in machine tool engineering, Engineering economics;
• Elective disciplines: Thermal engineering and technologies - selected chapters, Numerical modeling and analysis of mechanical systems, Processes and machines for welding of materials - selected chapters, Optimal modular design, Computer-aided design of technological equipment in metalworking, CAD/CAE of mechanical structures, Business planning, Innovations and project management;
• Optional disciplines: Team management, Planning of experiments in engineering research.

Graduates obtain an educational and qualification degree of "Master" in the specialty "Machine Engineering Technology" and a professional qualification of "Master Engineer" in professional field 5.1. Mechanical Engineering.

The obtained educational and qualification degree of "Master" is a prerequisite for continuing education at the educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" in Bulgaria and abroad.

The professional realization of graduates can be achieved in all sectors of the economy, science, state and European administration, requiring higher education in the specialty.
