Electrical Engineering

The specialty "Electrical Engineering" provides students with a solid foundation in modern areas of electrical engineering and opens up broad opportunities for professional implementation in fields such as modern industrial production, electronics, electric drives, electrical power engineering, electric transport, processing industry, and agriculture. The training is conducted in a modern classroom and laboratory environment equipped with modern equipment, computer technologies, and specialized software.Computer modeling and simulation, combined with real physical research, support students' adaptation to their future professional activities and develop practical skills sought by the industry. Graduates find employment in companies and organizations that carry out design, engineering, research, and analysis, as well as operation, engineering, and management in the field of production, distribution, consumption, and conversion of electrical energy.

Graduate engineers can work:

in the design, construction, and operation of electrical power and electrical engineering facilities;
in electricity distribution and transmission companies, power plants and substations, electrical engineering firms, and power supply systems;
as designers for electrical installations in buildings;
in the field of operation of new and renewable energy sources;
in research, development, implementation, and consulting activities related to electrical power facilities;
in developing their own business in the field of electrical engineering and renewable energy sources;
as teachers in secondary schools.

At the Faculty of Engineering Pedagogy - Sliven to the Technical University - Sofia, applications are submitted with:

state maturity exam in Bulgarian language and literature, and/or
state maturity exam in mathematics, and/or
state maturity exam in physics, and/or

mathematics test (preliminary or regular).

During the first three semesters, subjects are studied to build fundamental knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, mechanics, electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, foreign language.
During the next 4 semesters, general subjects for the specialization are studied in the fields of theory, management, and design of electric machines, electric apparatuses and electric drives, electrical measurements, commutation and converter technology, computer-aided design and simulation of electric apparatuses, technologies in electrical engineering and electronics, telecommunications, ecology and renewable energy sources, etc.
The last semester includes entirely elective subjects in the direction "Electric Networks", through which students acquire in-depth knowledge and practical skills for analysis, design, management, and operation of electrical and smart electrical grids, the electrical part of power plants and substations, computer design and design of decentralized power sources.
During the diploma project students apply acquired knowledge and skills in developing solutions to real engineering problems.
The training combines traditional teaching methods – lectures and exercises, with electronic and distance learning through the platform Blackboard of the Center for Distance Learning at the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy – Sliven, which provides constant access to educational materials and electronic educational resources.

• design, engineering, and consulting firms for the development and implementation of energy-efficient management of technological processes, electric drives, and building automation;

• electricity distribution companies, representative offices of leading foreign firms.
