Researchers from TUS awarded the "PYTHAGOR" prize for contributions to science

Engineering solution for life-saving therapy
Among the distinguished outstanding Bulgarian scientists, scientific teams, and organizations awarded with the most prestigious Ministry of Education and Science award "Pythagoras" - for achievements in the field of science and technology - there were also representatives of TUS. The scientific interdisciplinary team, Prof. Dr. Plamen Kenarov from the Medical University - Sofia, Assoc. Prof. Ivan Evgeniev Ivanov from FA, TUS - Sofia, and MSc Martin Dyankov from Nanofer EOOD, nominated by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Charakchiev from MU - Sofia, chief coordinator of the National Scientific Program "Electronic Healthcare", was honored by an authoritative jury with the award in the category Scientific Team for successful exploitation and commercialization of scientific results. The high evaluation was given for the useful model of the Promofer device they created, operating on the systole/diastole principle, representing an artificial single-chamber heart for conducting blood circulation outside the human body. The other participants from TUS are Eng. Ivan Yonchev, FA, Senior Lect. Dr. Veselin Georgiev, FKST, and Dr. Borislav Ivanov. The 12th official ceremony was broadcast on BNT 1 on the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and of Slavic Literacy - May 24, and the award was presented personally by the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev. In his congratulatory message, he said: "Recognition as a scientist is associated with round-the-clock dedicated work, but the result of it is not seen immediately. Time is needed for scientists to share it. We as a society owe them recognition, and the Pythagoras award is only a part of our respect for them".
