Three students from the Technical University of Sofia have won the prestigious scholarship that supports young engineering talents. For the sixth consecutive year, ABB Bulgaria announced the students who managed to win the scholarship of the "ABB Jurgen Dorman" Foundation, which aims to support motivated engineering students who wish to continue their education. The international scholarship is awarded to students with outstanding academic achievements in more than 12 countries. With more than 20 applications received, ABB Bulgaria selected the top three students from the Technical University of Sofia and its branch in Plovdiv. All three students have demonstrated significant engineering achievements, excellent academic performance, and personal motivation. This year's scholarship recipients are: Ralitsa Kostadinova - major "Automation, Information and Control Engineering", Faculty of Electronics and Automation, Plovdiv branch; Simeon Andonov - major "Electrical Power Engineering and Electrical Equipment", Electrical Engineering Faculty; and Delyan Dimitrov - major "Applied Mathematics and Informatics", Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics. The scholarship is awarded to first or second-year students and includes annual financial support in the amount of 5,860 BGN and a one-time sum of 900 BGN for purchasing technical equipment. The students have the opportunity to work with an ABB mentor during their studies. There is also the possibility of a summer internship at the company, as well as access to an online English language course to further expand their education. The scholarship recipients can also participate in the biennial international event for "Jurgen Dorman" Foundation scholarship holders in Switzerland, which gives scholarship holders from all countries the opportunity to meet, work on specific projects, and present their solutions to an expert jury. Since the start of the program in Bulgaria in 2014, the scholarship has been awarded to 19 students with various engineering profiles from the Technical University in Sofia and its branch in Plovdiv. Many of them took advantage of the opportunity for a summer internship at the company, and some of them even continued their careers at ABB. "With each passing year, the selection of scholarship recipients becomes more difficult because we encounter more motivated and curious students. I am glad that more and more students are investing in their personal and professional development, as well as in social projects and volunteer initiatives," said Viliana Bakalova, HR Business Partner at ABB Bulgaria and coordinator of the program. ABB actively supports education and invests in young talents beyond the foundation. For the second consecutive year, the company is conducting a dual training program in partnership with the Professional High School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics in Plovdiv, aiming to connect the latest trends and technologies from the industrial world with the school's educational program.
