Accommodation in the student dormitories at the Technical University of Sofia

Students who meet the eligibility requirements for housing in the student dormitories of the Technical University of Sofia may apply if their permanent address is not within the territory of the Sofia Municipality. The other requirement is that neither they nor their family members own a residence within the Sofia Municipality.

The procedure for applying for accommodation in the student dormitories of the Technical University of Sofia includes the following steps:Students who meet the eligibility requirements for housing in the student dormitories of the Technical University of Sofia may apply if their permanent address is not within the territory of the Sofia Municipality. The procedure for applying for accommodation in the student dormitories of the Technical University of Sofia includes the following steps:

Council of Ministers Decree No. 228/1997!!!

After September 1, 2026 individuals who are enrolled as students pursuant to the above-mentioned Decrees of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria must submit the following documents to Room 1152-2 (Housing Sector):

1. a certificate confirming their enrollment as students at TU Sofia (obtainable from the “International Students” Department)

2. a completed set of housing application documents (available for purchase at the TU Sofia bookstore, Academic Building 2, ground floor)

3. a valid ID

4. 1 passport-sized photo

an application form, if they wish to live with another student at TU Sofia

1. When enrolling at the Technical University of Sofia, applicants should check “YES” in the “I am applying for dormitory housing” box on their student registration form.

2. If you wish to share accommodation with the following individuals, you must submit an application immediately after enrolling at the Technical University of Sofia to Room 1152-2, Academic Building No. 1 (Rector’s Office):

a brother or sister who lives in a student dormitory at the Technical University of Sofia;
twins who are both enrolling at the Technical University of Sofia;
spouse in a civil marriage;
other relatives or friends who are students at the Technical University of Sofia (if possible, this request will be accommodated, depending on available bed capacity).

3. After mid-August 2026, every student enrolled at the Technical University of Sofia must log in to the university’s “E-Student” online system using their faculty ID number and personal identification number (EGN), where:

to verify (and edit, if incorrect information has been entered) and confirm the accuracy of their personal data;
electronically sign the attached declaration stating that they do not own a residence within the territory of the Sofia Municipality;
to specify a convenient date on which to check into the assigned room;
to electronically sign the lease agreement they will enter into with TU – Sofia (after reviewing the General Terms and Conditions).

4. On the day you have chosen for check-in, you must bring the following documents with you:

ID card;
2 passport-size photos;
a certificate from a psychiatric facility at the individual's permanent address;

Rent for student dormitories can be paid in the following ways:

Online: Via a virtual POS terminal through your personal profile in “E-Student” (the ‘Payments’ menu -> “Dormitories”).
In person: At the cashier’s office of the “Student Dormitories and Cafeterias” Department (Academic Building No. 1, Rector’s Office, next to Room 1152) using a debit or credit card in the student’s name.

When moving into dormitories No. 2, No. 3, No. 12, and No. 16 (renovated rooms), a security deposit of 130 (one hundred thirty) euros is required. The deposit must be paid within one month of the move-in date at the cashier’s office of the “Student Dormitories and Cafeterias” Department, located in Academic Building No. 1 (Rector’s Office), next to Room 1152.

Payment of 2 Months' Rent

“Upon check-in, you must pay the rent for September 2026 and
October 2026 (the exact amount of the monthly rent will be shown when you sign the electronic
contract).”

The following categories of students are eligible to pay reduced rent for student housing:

a student with a 70% or greater reduction in work capacity (TELK);
a student who was raised in a facility for children deprived of parental care until reaching the age of majority;
a student whose parents are both unknown or deceased;
a female student with three or more children;
a student with a military disability.

We ask that individuals who fall into any of the categories listed above notify the “Student Dormitories and Cafeterias” Department by July 31, 2026, at the following email address: sos@tu-sofia.bg. Upon check-in, you must present both the original and a copy of the documents verifying the relevant circumstances.

Due to the large number of first-year students, it is possible that address registrations may not be processed within the specified timeframes.

The address registration document must be submitted to the manager of the respective student dormitory within one month of the move-in date.
