Classes for the specialization "Transport Engineering and Technologies" are conducted at a modern European level.
Lectures are held in rooms equipped with multimedia tools, audio-video systems, and OhP projectors for training.
The rooms where laboratory exercises are held are equipped with training stands for various functional systems and aggregates of vehicles, measuring equipment for road measurements; equipment for static loading of a wheel with a pneumatic tire; equipment for studying the statics of a chain drive mechanism; equipment for testing a brake system regulator, etc.; models of front and rear axles, gearboxes, vehicle engines, clutches, various vehicle parts and assembled units. The department has a pneumatics laboratory, created with the material support of SMC Industrial Automation EOOD - Sofia, which is equipped with a pneumatics trainer.
During their training, students will have access to a computer class equipped with licensed software products: Microsoft Office-MSDN package for designing mechanical engineering products, CAD/CAM systems - NX 4, Solid Edge, Solid Works, Autocad, and MATLAB.
Practical training is widely represented in the study programs. It is provided through:
- specialized internships at companies with which contracts have been signed, "Balkankar-Record" - Plovdiv, "BALKAN" AD - Lovech, specialized service centers for maintaining transport equipment, and other companies in the field of production, maintenance (currently in Bulgaria there are over 3 million vehicles), marketing, and management of transport equipment, both in the country and abroad;
- the diploma internship at TUS - Sofia, Plovdiv branch, is conducted at the department or at companies, depending on the topic and the applicant for the diploma thesis;
- students also receive practical training through laboratory exercises, the development of course assignments and course projects, as well as diploma theses.
For the needs of student training in the Department of TAT, an information center has been established, equipped with educational and specialized materials in both paper and electronic formats. This center is connected to the university network with high-speed internet access.
