Microtechnology and Nanoengineering

The curriculum for the master's specialization "Microtechnologies and Nanoengineering" is focused on the technological implementation of microsystems with applications in electronics, communications, and industrial technologies, including methods for automated design, simulation, and testing of microsystems, ensuring a comprehensive engineering-technological approach. In the first semester, five mandatory subjects are studied, which lay the foundation of microtechnologies and nanoengineering. In the second semester, students study one mandatory subject, three mandatory electives according to the chosen direction (design, technology, testing), and two free electives.Students are given the opportunity for flexible choice among twelve subjects according to their interests, which can be outside the chosen direction. The diploma project lasts eight weeks and begins after the end of the second semester.The main part of the curricula (22 out of 27 subjects in total) is offered by the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies (FEET), the Faculty of Telecommunications (FT) participates with one subject, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (MME) – with four.

During their studies, students visit leading companies in the field of microtechnology and nanoengineering, where they become familiar with the real production environment and the requirements for serial production of microelectronic and micromechanical components for various applications (e.g., in automotive electronics). Experts from industry are periodically invited to present current practical problems and their solutions. Experts from leading foreign universities are also invited to deliver lectures on the most recent global developments in the field of nanotechnology.

What are the admission requirements?

The new master's specialization "Microtechnologies and Nanoengineering" is a joint program between the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies, the Faculty of Telecommunications, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and is intended for graduates with a bachelor's degree in the professional fields 5.2. Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation; 5.3. Communication and Computer Engineering; 5.1. Mechanical Engineering, and 5.13. General Engineering. Graduates of the specialization receive the professional qualification of Master of Engineering in Microtechnologies and Nanoengineering from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies.

What will I learn?

The master's program includes a wide range of specialized disciplines aimed at in-depth study of nanomaterials, micro- and nanosystems, as well as their applications in modern technologies. Among the included courses are "Nanomaterials," "Nano-communication Networks," "Micro- and Nanosystem Technology," "Reliability of Nanoscale Circuits and Systems," "Nanotechnologies for Environmental Efficiency of Telecommunications," "Micromechanics and Nanotribology," "Thin-Film Electronics," "Microelectronic Technologies for Alternative Energy Sources," and "Microelectronic Technologies for Encoding, Recording, and Reading Information." The courses provide a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for designing, analyzing, and implementing innovative solutions in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics.
