What are the admission requirements?

The specialization is advanced and specialized in professional field 5.2 "Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation". It is a natural continuation of the bachelor programs offered by the Technical University – Sofia, as well as by the project partners – Technical University – Varna, University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" – Burgas, Technical University – Gabrovo and other higher education institutions that train bachelors in field 5 "Technical Sciences" and provide the necessary preparation for training in professional field 5.2.
The study programs in English developed under project No. BG05M2OP001-2.016-0028 "Modernization of Higher Education Institutions" and the digitized study courses create conditions for attracting foreign students and promote the internationalization of education.

The curriculum is developed in compliance with regulatory requirements and aims to provide adequate training for highly qualified specialists in a dynamic and innovative field, aligned with labor market needs. The need for engineers who can find professional opportunities in this rapidly growing industry is increasing as more intelligent systems that enhance comfort and quality of life are integrated into homes, offices, and healthcare.

The training in the specialization is primarily carried out through specialized education, taking into account the interdisciplinary nature of the basic knowledge and skills required for successful career development of specialists in this field. The students' preparation includes training in areas such as:

algorithms for building management systems,
artificial intelligence and neural networks,
communication network devices and data exchange,
sensor networks,
systems with intelligent behavior,
modeling and CAD systems,
electronic technological systems with non-industrial applications,
digital health and telemedicine,
design and technologies of micro- and nanosensor elements,
cyber-physical systems for processing and control in engineering and medical processes.

The key competencies acquired during the training process enable students to carry out design, constructional-technological, and research activities in the field of high-tech systems. Achieving such a broad scope of knowledge requires significant infrastructure and stable staffing. This has been realized through the unification of efforts from three leading universities: Technical University – Sofia, Technical University – Varna, and University "Asen Zlatarov" – Burgas.

Graduates of the specialization "Intelligent Systems for Home, Office, and Healthcare" at the educational and qualification level of "Master" possess in-depth theoretical knowledge, skills for solving engineering problems, and the ability for continuous professional development through lifelong learning and analysis. Master engineers are prepared to work in a new and rapidly evolving field and possess competencies that enable them to apply their acquired knowledge to the objects of their professional activity. They can:

formulate and independently solve problems related to the objects of the specialization; apply acquired theoretical knowledge in practice; implement a comprehensive technical-economic approach and use modern computer methods and tools in solving engineering problems;
design and construct electronic modules and systems for use in homes, offices, and healthcare, as well as develop the necessary technical documentation;
conduct experimental research using modern measurement and development tools, analyze the results, and prepare the corresponding documentation;
to organize and conduct research, modeling, and optimization of parameters of electronic, microelectronic, and microelectromechanical modules and systems;
to organize production processes and manage the activities of production units related to the specialization's objects; to plan the use, maintenance, and repair of the respective systems;
to develop, control, and evaluate projects at both national and European levels;
to identify problems in their field, determine initial and limiting conditions, and apply a systematic approach to their resolution;
to lead production teams and organize the professional development of workers and employees;
to lead design or research teams at the national or international level.

Graduates of the specialization can lead the design, research, and construction of intelligent electronic modules and systems for the home, office, and medicine; perform assembly and system integration of intelligent systems; organize and manage the technological preparation of production; operate and maintain intelligent systems; engage in scientific research; perform managerial functions in companies, administrative, and public structures. They can also work as lecturers in higher technical universities and continue their education at the doctoral degree level "doctor".
