The Master's specialization has the unique purpose of creating specialists who not only master their profession in the fields of engineering, economics, and law, but also possess knowledge and skills in the area of intellectual property protection and management during the creation and market implementation of innovative products.
The specialization "Intellectual Property and Innovation" is open to graduates with an educational and qualification level of "Bachelor" or "Master" in all professional directions from fields 3. Social, Economic and Legal Sciences and 5. Technical Sciences, and PD 4.5 Mathematics and PD 4.6 Informatics and Computer Science.
Admission of applicants to the specialization "Intellectual Property and Innovation" is carried out in accordance with the general requirements for student admission at the Technical University – Sofia.
Only persons with a grade of at least "Good", which is formed as an average grade from the average performance in the subjects included in the curriculum of the bachelor's or master's studies and from the average performance in the state exams or the defense of the bachelor's or master's thesis of the already completed bachelor's or master's degree, have the right to apply.
The curriculum includes seven mandatory subjects and four lists of elective subjects, with an emphasis on the practical skills of future specialists, whose training concludes with a course project and diploma design. The program combines fundamental legal subjects with managerial, administrative, and humanitarian disciplines. All subjects are taught by habilitated lecturers in the respective scientific fields, with guest lecturers also coming from other universities and from the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria.
A good opportunity for further development and career realization for master's graduates is the so-called Pan-European Seal Professional Traineeship Programme, in which TU-Sofia has been participating since 2020, providing the opportunity to apply for a one-year internship at the European Patent Office in Munich and the European Union Intellectual Property Office in Alicante. Another excellent opportunity is to work at the Bulgarian Patent Office, where they could also intern and where master's graduates in intellectual property with an engineering specialization can successfully build their careers. The demand for such specialists from the business sector is no less, especially when it comes to innovative enterprises. Graduates of the master's specialization in "Intellectual Property and Innovations" could also register as industrial property representatives and find opportunities in academic research and teaching environments.
