The master's program in "Integrated Engineering of Railway Systems" at the master's level aims to prepare highly qualified managerial personnel to meet the needs of the transport business, railway enterprises and plants, railway carriers, logistics centers, transport and forwarding companies, state and municipal institutions, for making effective technical and technological solutions in the field of railway transport.

The master's level education provides in-depth specialized training in the field of railway transport technology and engineering, by forming knowledge in the management of railway systems; information technology, telematics and artificial intelligence and their application in railway transport; the role of human factors in the management of railway systems, the application of software systems in railway transport, the environmental aspects of transport. Two master's programs have been formed through elective disciplines: "Engineering in the Production and Maintenance of Rolling Stock" and "Integrated and Multimodal Transport Systems".

The application and admission to the specialty are regulated by the Regulation on Admission of Students to the Technical University of Sofia.

The training in the specialty „Integrated Engineering of Railway Systems is characterized by acquiring knowledge of methods for management, planning, and analysis of railway systems, conditions, methods, and requirements for operational compatibility of rail transport with European railway networks, the application of information technologies and artificial intelligence in rail transport, and the environmental aspects of rail transport.

The specialty includes two modules: "Engineering in the Production and Repair of Rolling Stock" and "Integrated and Multimodal Transport Systems." The module Engineering in the Production and Repair of Rolling Stock provides a specialization in the field of railway engineering. The methods for modeling and testing railway equipment, the technology for the production and repair of rolling stock, the material supply for the production and repair of railway equipment, and the interaction of rolling stock with railway infrastructure are studied.

The module Integrated and multimodal transport systems provides specialization in the field of technology and organization of rail transport, as part of the multimodal transport chain. The technologies of intermodal transport systems, methods of tariffing in rail transport, methods of managing railway companies, methods of managing urban rail systems, and methods of modeling and simulation of rail systems are studied.

Graduates of the master's specialization "Integrated Railway Systems Engineering can successfully be employed in all state and private enterprises involved in ground transport, railway plants and facilities, logistics centers, forwarding companies, state administration structures, research and production implementation units, higher education institutions, etc.
