Elements and devices of automation and computing technology

The Faculty of Automation at TU-Sofia is the educational institution in Bulgaria that can provide doctoral studies under the doctoral program "Elements and Devices of Automation and Computing Technology," which complies with European requirements.The topics for which doctoral students are trained under this program are current and are determined by national priorities in the specific scientific research field, namely: development of methods and tools for research and improvement of electronic instruments and systems in accordance with modern standards.

The goal of the doctoral training for PhD students in the doctoral program "Elements and Devices of Automation and Computing Technology" in the Department "Automation of Continuous Processes" (ACP) of the Faculty "Automation" is aimed at:

a) improving the qualifications of the PhD students;

b) forming them as highly qualified teachers for TUTS;

c) developing them as competent, knowledgeable, and capable scientists, ready to meet the challenges of modern industry and technology.

Achieving the set goal is associated with the implementation of the following tasks:

a) compliance with legal requirements in the training of PhD students;

b) the training and consulting of doctoral students shall be carried out by highly qualified habilitated teachers;

c) continuous improvement and modernization of the material base for studying world standards in the scientific field;

d) application of modern achievements in the field of information and communication technologies for research and development, analysis and processing of information and data;

e) maintaining continuous contact, close interaction, and responding to the growing interest of companies in the field in scientific and applied developments related to the topic of the doctoral program.

Additional motivations for the training of doctoral students in the doctoral program "Elements and devices of automation and computing technology" at the Faculty of Automation of TU-Sofia, there is also the successful development of specializations in "Industrial Control Engineering", "Bioelectroengineering" and others at FA, which are based on modern courses:

● Technical means for automation;

● Biosensor systems and analyzers;

● Biotechnological measurements;

● Technological practicum;

● Logical process control;

● Industrial automation systems;

● Programming of logical controllers

Requirements for the preparation of specialists with an educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" under the doctoral program "Elements and Devices of Automation and Computing Technology" are:

● to have excellent training in the field of basic electronics;

● to possess specific knowledge in the field of electronic instruments and systems;

● to have training in the field of communication technology and systems;

● to have knowledge in the field of information technology;

● to have knowledge in the field of distributed systems and distributed embedded systems;

● possess knowledge in modern measurement techniques from low to ultra-high frequencies;

● in-depth and creative understanding and use of literature in the specific field in which the dissertation topic is formulated;

● demonstration of creative thinking;

● acquisition of a high level of skills, knowledge, and qualifications for theoretical and/or experimental research work.

The Faculty of Automation at TU-Sofia is the educational institution in Bulgaria that can provide doctoral training under the doctoral program "Elements and Devices of Automation and Computing Technology", which will be in accordance with European requirements regarding the type of research:

● theoretical and experimental;

● of an engineering nature.

The topics on which doctoral students are trained under this program are current and are determined by national priorities in the specific scientific research field, namely: development of methods and tools for research and improvement of electronic instruments and systems in accordance with modern standards.
The training unit has five specialized laboratories on "Elements and Devices of Automation and Computing Technology", equipped with specific measuring equipment and specialized testers, where doctoral students can be successfully trained under the doctoral program „Elements and Devices of Automation and Computing Technology“. The research of doctoral students is carried out in the laboratories "Technical Means for Automation", "Optimization of Systems", "Logical Process Control", "Process and System Control", "Fermentation Technologies and Automatic Control of Biotechnological Processes" at the Faculty of Automation at the Technical University - Sofia.
