The training in the specialization "Computer Systems and Technologies" aims to prepare highly qualified engineering staff who will carry out design, construction, programming, production-research, organizational-management, and other activities in the field of information technology. Due to their excellent language preparation, it is expected that graduates will also serve as intermediaries in the many German-speaking companies that have established production enterprises in Bulgaria in recent years."Computer Systems and Technologies" specialization is built to a high European level, as in fulfillment of the agreement with the German Academic Exchange Service, the training is conducted according to the curricula of Otto von Guericke Universität (OvGU) Magdeburg. This is a condition so that graduating students, in addition to a diploma from TU-Sofia, can also receive a German higher education diploma from the University in Magdeburg. The training is conducted entirely in German. The specialization "Computer Systems and Technologies" belongs to professional field 5.3 Communication and Computer Engineering.In response to the high demands of the labor market, the need for the development of 21st-century competencies, as well as educational standards, the training in "Computer Systems and Technologies" covers a set of competencies - basic, technical, and professional. The training is conducted within 2340 hours of classroom and 4860 hours of extracurricular engagement, with a duration of 7 semesters of study and 1 semester of diploma design. The set of elective disciplines creates the prerequisites for applying a personalized approach in training.

The training actively focuses on innovations in the educational process, practical training, and collaboration with organizations from practice. Lectures, seminars, and consultations for the development of the thesis are conducted by teachers from Germany and Bulgaria.

Upon successful completion of the training in Bulgaria, students receive a Bulgarian diploma for "Bachelor of Computer Systems and Technologies" and a German diploma for "Bachelor of Informatics". The German diploma is issued by Otto von Guericke Universität (OvGU) Magdeburg.

What will I learn?

As a result of the training in the specialty "Computer Systems and Technologies", knowledge is acquired in the field of hardware by: computer system architectures, microprocessor technology, computer peripherals and interfaces, computer networks and communication systems in the field of software by:

synthesis and analysis of algorithms;
algorithmic, structured, object-oriented, component and functional programming;
databases and information systems;
operating systems;
internet technologies;
image processing;
multimedia technologies;
information security and information protection knowledge of fundamental disciplines such as mathematics, physics, and electrical engineering; basic knowledge of economics and management, including the development and management of projects in the field of information technology;
the implementation of modern information and communication technologies in various areas of human activity. The training is conducted only in full-time and includes 34 compulsory, 10 elective, and 10 optional courses.

Graduates of the "Computer Systems and Technologies" specialization find employment in Bulgarian and foreign companies in the field of Information Technology, such as FESTO, Liebherr, Siemens, BASF, BOSCH, Würth, BLUBITO, Musala Soft, Microsoft, HP, and many others.
The Department provides broad opportunities for professional development through training in key areas of information technology. Students develop skills in formulating and solving complex problems, as well as in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software and hardware. Additionally, they acquire knowledge in IT project management and the application of technologies in various spheres of public life.
