The training in the specialty „Aeronautical Engineering“ is conducted with the leading role of the Department of Air Transport at the Faculty of Transport. It provides specialists with higher education for almost all areas of civil aviation.The main goal of the specialty is to further develop and enrich the foundation of aviation education and qualification, to train specialists with higher education for the needs of aviation, air transport, for the flight and technical operation of aircraft, for maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft and ground aviation equipment, for ensuring the aviation activities of aviation operators, in airport complexes, in companies for the production, repair and operation of aviation equipment, in units for research and production-implementation activities, in state administration.The main purpose of the specialty is to meet the country's needs for specialists with higher aviation education, for the needs of aviation, air transport, for the flight and technical operation of aircraft, for maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft and ground aviation equipment, for ensuring the aviation activities of aviation operators, in airport complexes, in companies for the production, repair and operation of aviation equipment, in units for research and production-implementation activities, in state administration. The nature of the subject area dictates the mandatory development of the specialty according to the requirements of international aviation standards and recommendations.Practical training of students is carried out in cooperation with leading Bulgarian aviation companies: Lufthansa Technik, Bulgaria Air, Hemus Air, Air Scorpio, Heliair, ATC, etc.The specialty existed until 1958 as AIRCRAFT CONSTRUCTION at the State Polytechnic (VMEI), from 1972 to 1990 at the Higher Military Air Force Institute as specialties for Civil Aviation, from 1992 as specializations in the operation and repair of aviation equipment in the broad-profile specialty Transport Technology and Technologies at Technical University Sofia, and from 1997 as an independent specialty Aviation Technology and Technologies at Technical University Sofia.For more information tel. 02 965 2602, 02 965 2522
