One of the leading educational and scientific directions of the Faculty of Automation is represented by the departments "Automation of Electric Drives" (AED), "Theoretical Electrical Engineering" (TEE), and "Automation of Continuous Production" (ACP).The goal of training doctoral students in the doctoral program "SYSTEMS WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE" in the TRAINING UNIT is directed towards:a) improving the qualifications of the trained doctoral students;b) forming them as highly qualified teachers for TU-Sofia;c) developing them as competent, knowledgeable, and capable scientists, ready to meet the challenges of modern industry and technology.Achieving the set goal is associated with the fulfillment of the following tasks:a) compliance with legal requirements in the training of doctoral students;b) the training and counseling of doctoral students shall be carried out by highly qualified habilitated professors;c) continuous improvement and modernization of the material base for studying world standards in the scientific field;d) application of modern achievements in the field of information and communication technologies for research and development, analysis and processing of information and data;e) maintaining continuous contact, close interaction and responding to the growing interest of companies in the field in scientific and applied developments related to the topic of the doctoral program.Requirements for the preparation of specialists with an educational and scientific degree of "Doctor" according to the doctoral program "SYSTEMS WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE" are:● have excellent training in the field of basic electronics;● possess specific knowledge in the field of electronic instruments and systems;● have training in the field of communication technology and technologies;● have knowledge in the field of information technology;● have knowledge in the field of distributed systems and distributed embedded systems;● have knowledge in modern measurement technology from low to ultra-high frequencies;● in-depth and creative understanding and use of literature in the specific field in which the dissertation topic is formulated;● demonstration of creative thinking;● acquisition of a high level of skills, knowledge, and qualifications for theoretical and/or experimental research work.THE TRAINING UNIT has nine specialized laboratories in "Virtual Robotics and Robotic Technologies and Systems", "Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Agents", and the NLR in "Modeling with Neural Networks" at FA; laboratories in "Semiconductor Elements and Integrated Circuits", "Analog Circuit Design", "Theory of Electronic Circuits", "Semiconductor Circuit Design", "Pulse, Digital and Microprocessor Circuit Design", "Embedded Microprocessor Systems", and "Measurements in Electronics" at FETT, and for the TU Sofia branch in Plovdiv – these are laboratories in "Intelligent Control Systems", "Communication Systems in Integrated Production and PLCs", as well as the "Milara Center for Robotics and Automation". They are equipped with specific measuring equipment and specialized testers where doctoral students in the doctoral program "SYSTEMS WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE" can be successfully trained and where the research of doctoral students is actually conducted. Part of the research is also conducted in "Applied Electronics", "Optoelectronics and Laser Technology", "Distributed Embedded Systems", and "Nuclear Electronics".TU-Sofia, Faculty of Automation (specifically departments "Automation of Electric Drives", "Theoretical Electrical Engineering", and "Automation of Continuous Production"), Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies (specifically department "Electronic Engineering"), and Faculty of Electronics and Automation, Plovdiv Branch (department "Control Systems") is the educational institution in Bulgaria that can provide training for doctoral students in the doctoral program "SYSTEMS WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE", which complies with European requirements regarding the type of research:● theoretical and experimental;● of an engineering nature.The topics on which doctoral students are trained in this program are current and are determined by national priorities in the specific scientific research field, namely: development of methods and tools for research and improvement of electronic devices and systems in accordance with modern standards.
