NPL "BELA" was established by a decision of the Academic Council in 1996 through the merger of PNIL "Contactless Devices" and Small Power "Bela" (Contactless devices and complete electrical technological units).
The laboratory carries out applied research and implementation activities on a contractual basis for the design and prototyping of new products for industry, as well as for the creation of unique facilities for a number of research organizations and projects.
Special electronic converters with industrial and high frequency are researched, designed, and implemented in the laboratory.
Such converters have been developed and implemented at: facilities for powering telecommunications equipment; the production, testing, and operation of accumulator batteries; electrical technological processes for plasma treatments; for excitation and control of electric machines; magnetizers for facilities with rare-earth magnets; special transformers, chokes, and magnetic switches for high frequency using amorphous and nanocrystalline magnetic alloys.
The base and experience of the laboratory's staff are used to support the practical training of students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Twelve of the laboratory's staff have defended dissertations, including one for a Dr.Sc.
Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the predominant projects on which the laboratory works, it collaborates with teams from other faculties of the university.
