MILARA ROBOTICS AND AUTOMATION CENTER is located in the building of the IV Academic Building on the campus of TU-Sofia, Plovdiv branch. The center was established with the support of Milara International EOOD and was officially opened on February 27, 2014. Its main mission is related to the development of scientific and applied research in the field of robotics and automation, based on the integration of multiple new and emerging technologies.
The modern development of industry and the ideas of the 4.0 revolution are directly related to robotics - the main means of materializing the results and information from cyber-systems into the physical world, with a key role in digital manufacturing. At the same time, the development of technologies, the expansion of the areas of application of robots, and increased functionality place new, higher requirements on modern robotics. Robots must be more flexible, adaptable, easy to program with an intuitive human-machine interface. The effects of higher robot functionality, better integration with information systems, easier communication between human and robot, and joint activities performed by humans and robots are multifaceted. For manufacturing enterprises, the main advantages are expressed in better integration and optimization of production, the emergence of new services, new products, and business models. Robots are increasingly entering non-production spheres: logistics robots, home assistant robots, medical robots, inspection robots, etc. This necessitates the development of new methods for control, training, and adaptation, which will ensure more comprehensive inclusion of robots not only in structured industrial environments but also in shared workspaces with humans.
The equipment in the center is provided both with the initial support of Milara,
