
OLYMPIANS - YOUNG STUDENTS IN COMPUTER MATHEMATICS FROM THE FACULTY OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS OF THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOFIA PREPARE THE NEW COMPETITORS WHO CONQUERED THE TOP POSITIONS AT CompMath-2023
From November 10th to 12th, 2023, in the city of Ruse, the Tenth Anniversary National Student Olympiad in Computer Mathematics 'Academician Stefan Dodunekov (CompMath-2023)' was held. At every CompMath Olympiad, contestants from TU – Sofia participate in Group A (mathematics and informatics) and Group B (technical sciences).
This year, from TU – Sofia in the national CompMath-2023 Olympiad in Group A, Preslav Tsenov and Vasilena Adamova, from the 'Informatics and Software Sciences' major, the most desired major for the last four years at TU – Sofia, and Gergana Pelova from the 'Applied Mathematics and Informatics' major, all from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, competed. They showed brilliant results and won medals, as well as a cup for team classification.
In Group B (technical sciences), TU – Sofia was represented by contestants Katerina Kostadinova and Iliyan Kordev from the Faculty of Industrial Technologies, Nina Bliznakova from the Faculty of Telecommunications, and Venislav Petrov from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Our representatives in Group B also performed brilliantly and won gold and bronze medals, as well as a cup for team classification.
The preparation of the participants for the Olympiad was carried out at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics by Assistant Professor Stoyan Popov, as well as with the support and shared experience of Associate Professor Dr. Elena Vrbanova.
During the preparation, the participants showed willpower, enthusiasm, and the ability to deeply and quickly master both mathematical knowledge and new educational technologies for solving mathematical and applied problems. During the Olympiad, they also demonstrated an outstanding competitive spirit.
All participants from TU – Sofia in 2023 at CompMath-2023 performed brilliantly, winning four medals with gold and cups in the team classification for each of the groups. We are proud of all of them!
