In the context of the series of seminars by the European Laboratory for Culture and Technology (ECT Lab+), the Media Arts and Design Laboratory (MADLab - Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, Cyprus University of Technology) and the Department of Fine Arts (School of Fine and Applied Arts, Cyprus University of Technology) organized a round table on the topic:
"Creative Machines: Reflections on Creative Mediation and Artistic Values"
A round table on critical philosophical questions directed towards computational creativity, creative software mediators, and their aesthetic/artistic values. Specifically, the focus is on computational processes such as artificial intelligence and machine learning and their aesthetic/artistic values. By viewing creativity through a critical lens, can we assume that the computer exhibits creativity independently of the human creator, or is mediation a necessary part of the creative process?

Discussion participants:
Dr. Marinos Koutsomichalis (MADLab, Cyprus University of Technology)
