For the ninth consecutive year, the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies (BAIT) awarded organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of the ICT sector within the framework of the "BAIT Awards" ceremony for 2019. This year, the Technological University "Electronic Systems" (TUES) at the Technical University - Sofia won two awards! The teaching staff of the school received the award for special contribution to ICT for their role in the development of young talents for the technological world. The award was presented by the patron of the initiative - the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Stela Stefanova, director of the school, thanked for the recognition and explained that the educational model of TUES, which has been training the backbone of the ICT industry in Bulgaria for over 30 years, owes its success to the integration of school-university-business. As part of the structure of TU - Sofia, the school has been successfully supported over the years with engaged teachers, mentors and thesis supervisors from the ICT business. The successful educational model was also proven by the fact that for the third consecutive year, a student of TUES won the category for "Youth Award". Theodor Todorov from the 12th grade was one of the two winners in the category, recognized for his invented mechanized wheelchair. It is also worth noting the statistic that of the 5 projects nominated for the youth award, 3 were developed with the participation of TUES graduates. In addition to Theodor Todorov's project, the project for facial recognition "Shadower" by Evgeni Dimov and Aneta Tsvetkova from the 12a class and the project Insilica, an integrated digital platform for analyzing data from biopsies of cancer patients with artificial intelligence, by Iliyan Kordov (graduate of 2018 of TUES) and Borislav Borovski, students at TU-Sofia, were also nominated. The won awards are proof of the high professionalism of the young innovators and the teaching staff behind them, and therefore they deserve the warm admiration of the entire ICT community.
