
Opportunities for more active cooperation in the automotive industry
On June 12, 2020, the Rector of TU-Sofia, Prof. Dr. Ivan Králov, received an audience with the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Mr. Manuel Korček. The meeting was initiated by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Bulgaria. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Ambassador Korček, at the request of Prof. Dr. Lyubomir Shosh, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, presented a specific request for project cooperation in the automotive industry, as mechanical engineering production and the automotive industry are among the leading sectors of national industry and education in both Bulgaria and Slovakia. In this regard, Prof. Králov acquainted the guests with the university's structure and the opportunities for cooperation in the educational and research fields.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Ivana Marksfeldová, Consul of the Slovak Republic in Bulgaria, Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov, Deputy Rector for Academic Staff and Coordination, Prof. Dr. Ivan Yachev, Director of "International Exchange and Integration", Prof. Dr. Mikhail Todorov, Dean of the Faculty of Transport, and representatives of the Department of "Engines, Automotive Engineering and Transport": Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evgeni Dimitrov, Head of Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikolay Pavlov, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Plamen Punov.
The Rector and other representatives of TU-Sofia expressed their readiness for future cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and extended an invitation to the upcoming International Scientific Conference on Aviation, Automotive, and Railway Engineering and Technologies – BulTrans-2020. Opportunities for the exchange of students and doctoral students between the two universities under the recently concluded Erasmus+ program were also discussed.
We remind you that on June 19, 2019, in Bratislava, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between TU-Sofia and the Slovak University of Technology.
The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava is a national leader in the field of scientific research and innovation and has several centers of excellence with industrial cooperation. The university educates nearly 12,000 students annually, and its graduates are among the top experts. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering focuses primarily on innovations in the automotive industry and has interesting projects.
