
For another year, the Technical University – Sofia has received high international recognition in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Despite the larger number of participants and higher criteria such as the average starting salary of graduates, the evaluation of policies for attracting refugees, etc., the Technical University – Sofia, together with Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", remain the only higher education institutions in the country included in this ranking. This is a reflection of the high quality of education, scientific research, and technology transfer to industry at the Technical University – Sofia.
In this year's ranking, in which the number of included universities has increased from 1600 to 1799 from 104 countries and regions, making it the largest and most diverse university ranking to date, the position of the largest technical higher education institution in the country is 1501+. The TU – Sofia participates in 4 areas – Engineering Sciences, Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Fast-Growing Economies, and is highly rated on the indicators "Research Activity", "Teaching", "International Perspective", and "Income from Industry" in the respective areas.
Based on student and faculty experience, as well as evaluation by governments and industry experts, the rating system reveals how the global landscape of higher education is changing.
Of the total 1799 ranked universities, 526 are listed as "reporting", which means they have provided data but do not meet the eligibility criteria. Times Higher Education ranks only universities that have published over 200 scientific articles.
Due to changes in methodology and evaluated indicators, the university is actively working on developing a new strategy for participation in this and other international rankings. Improving the indicators "International Perspective" and "Income from Industry" is a sign of the correct direction of development that the Technical University – Sofia has embarked on. The university is actively working to achieve sustainable development goals and increase social engagement and responsibility.
