
On 07.06.2023, in the presence of the members of the Academic Council of the Technical University – Sofia, the Chairman of the German-Bulgarian Industrial and Commercial Chamber (GBITC), Mr. Tim Kurt, ceremoniously presented to the Rector of TU – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, a Certificate of Membership in the Chamber.
By a decision of the Academic Council dated 26.04.2023, the Technical University – Sofia submitted an application for membership in the German-Bulgarian Industrial and Commercial Chamber, which was accepted with full unanimity at a meeting of the Management Board of GBITC on 04.05.2023, and thus TU-Sofia became the first university to receive membership in this prestigious organization of German business in Bulgaria.
TU-Sofia, through the Faculty of German Engineering Education and Industrial Management, has been actively cooperating with GBITC since 23.09.2009, when a cooperation agreement was signed between the two institutions with the aim of promoting links between education, scientific research, and business.
The membership of TU – Sofia in GBITC will further contribute to the establishment of the University and the Faculty of German Engineering Education and Industrial Management as a leading educational and scientific organization that develops in sync with the business community's understanding of quality modern science and higher education and meets society's expectations for creating highly qualified specialists in the field of technical sciences and related economic relations. Specifically, the membership of TU – Sofia in GBITC will benefit its scientific research and educational activities as follows:
1. Faster and more efficient access to German companies, whose employees represent potential students in the educational programs of the Technical University – Sofia, mainly in master's specializations;
2. Opportunity to utilize and apply the professional knowledge and skills of the teachers at TU – Sofia in solving technical or economic tasks of the member companies of GBITC;
3. Cooperation with leading German companies in their field on issues of significant importance for public life in the country;
4. Providing students from the Faculty of German Engineering Education and Industrial Management with opportunities to conduct internships and traineeships, as well as to work in the member companies of GBITC.
The membership of TU - Sofia in the GBIK will further deepen ties with German business in Bulgaria and contribute to the development of Bulgarian-German economic, scientific, educational, and cultural relations. As an additional guarantor of this cooperation is FaGIOPM, which over all 33 years since its establishment has significantly contributed to raising the authority of TU - Sofia at national and international levels.
