
The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (MLSP) presented the Distinction for Significant Achievements in the Implementation of the Policy on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men for 2023. The prizes in the seventh edition of the competition were awarded to the Technical University - Sofia, the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria, the Energy System Operator, the National Electric Company, the International Business School, and the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria. The awards were presented by the Deputy Ministers of Labour and Social Policy Lazar Lazarov and Natalia Efremova, and the Head of the Office of Minister Ivelin Ivanov – Irena Tsvetkova. The award was received by the Deputy Rector for Scientific and Applied Activities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Elitsa Gieva.
"The main goal of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy is to promote equal opportunities for women and men and to support the prevention and elimination of discrimination based on sex," said Deputy Minister Lazar Lazarov. In his speech, he emphasized that Bulgarian legislation guarantees equal rights for women and men, but their practical application requires the efforts of socially responsible employers, organizations, and institutions.
"Your example gives us a valuable lesson that women and men face different kinds of difficulties, and achieving equality between them creates a more favorable working environment that encourages employees to improve their knowledge and skills and leads to sustainable growth, higher productivity, and a better quality of life," added Deputy Minister Lazar Lazarov.
