The Technical University – Sofia celebrated its 80th anniversary with a series of events

The anniversary began with a meeting with international partners from the European University of Technology and partner universities from around the world! Rectors, vice-rectors, ambassadors, and diplomats honored the meeting in the university's newest hall at the National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies and delivered greetings for the jubilee! Yanina Fengel, Deputy Secretary General of EUT+, stated that the Technical University – Sofia has played an important role in the creation and development of the Alliance from the very beginning. According to Joaquín Roca-González from the Polytechnical University of Cartagena, the EUT+ Alliance will be one of the key factors in the future of engineering in Europe.

A sunny Saturday day gathered over 250 students and faculty members in "Studentski" Park for the sports festival "80 Years of Technical University – Sofia", united by the cause of supporting mass sports, an active, and healthy lifestyle. And by the desire to show that the Technical University of Sofia is not only a home of knowledge and innovation, but also of energy, movement, and a healthy spirit.

The climax of the 80th anniversary was a gala performance at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre! The University is proud of its graduates – over 170,000 engineers, including world-renowned scientists and statesmen – said Rector Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov at the opening. After the official part, actors recreated on stage the history of the Technical University – Sofia from its opening 80 years ago and the countless achievements of its faculty and graduates over the years. 

Some of the biggest stars of Bulgarian music – Vasil Naydenov, Orlin Goranov, Foundation, Maria Ilieva, Desi Dobreva, Nevena Tsoneva – greeted the audience with their performances.
