At the 10th anniversary ceremony for the distribution of the "Academic Oscars" for 2025, the Technical University – Sofia was again among the best higher education institutions in the country's university rating system.
The Technical University – Sofia has the most first places in fields after Sofia University. The prize-winning places are in traditionally strong fields such as "Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation", "Energy", "Communications and Computer Engineering", "Mechanical Engineering", "General Engineering", and "Transport, Shipping and Aviation".
The Rector of TU – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Georgi Venkov, received the award from the Chairman of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, who welcomed the university for preparing the necessary personnel for the Bulgarian industry and providing its students with the special knowledge that allows them to utilize the opportunities of artificial intelligence, relying on their own expertise.
Prof. Venkov is confident that the Technical University – Sofia will again this year succeed in meeting the high criteria for the quality of education and scientific research. He set as a next goal for Bulgarian universities to rise to higher positions in international rating systems, to prove that they offer higher education at a European level.
President Iliana Yotova stated in her welcome address that Bulgarian universities are at a European level and are proving this through their participation in the European higher education system, with the membership of the Technical University – Sofia in the Alliance of European Technological Universities.
The Minister of Education, acting in a caretaker capacity, Krassimir Valkov, also congratulated higher education institutions on the increasingly better indicators of teaching quality and the growing interest of foreign students in them.
