
On March 14, 2022, the German diplomas were awarded to the graduates of the Faculty of German Engineering Education and Industrial Management (FaGIOPM) – 25 bachelors and 5 masters – in the Aula of the Technical University – Sofia. Official guests at the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov – Rector of TU – Sofia, Mr. Jörg Schenk – Head of the "Science" Section at the German Embassy in Bulgaria, Dr. Mitko Vasilev – CEO of the German-Bulgarian Industrial and Commercial Chamber, and Mr. Ivaylo Katsarkov, Head of the "Human Resources" Department at "Musala Soft" AD.
In his welcome address, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Vasil Galabov, Dean of the Faculty of Geodesy, Informatics and Photogrammetry, emphasized that the establishment and development of the faculty are possible only thanks to the long-term support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the secured funding until 2025, as well as with the assistance of the German Embassy in Bulgaria. The Dean expressed special gratitude for the active role of the German partner universities in the training process – Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, University „Otto von Guericke, Magdeburg, Technical University of Braunschweig, FOM - University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management Essen. Over 100 German and Bulgarian lecturers contribute to ensure that the highly motivated students of the faculty receive a high level of education, in accordance with German standards. Assoc. Prof. Galabov wished the graduates health, joy, and successful professional realization.
The Rector of TU – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Kralov, congratulated the graduates on behalf of the academic leadership and emphasized that they should be proud of their achievements, as they are now part of the technical elite of society. "Do not stop learning and share your knowledge with others. Knowledge gives freedom and independence. Thank your parents, because they have made the best investment for you – namely, in knowledge." Prof. Kralov
thank the business, without whose support it would not have been possible to achieve high quality of education and with a practical orientation. With the words "Keep dreaming and turning your dreams into reality, because the engineer creates goods. Good luck and many years!", Prof. Krarov concluded his greeting.
Mr. Jörg Schenk congratulated the graduates of the Faculty of Automation and Information Technologies on their successful completion and encouraged them with the German proverb: "Nothing can hinder an engineer." "You have a serious professional path ahead, but you have the best prerequisites because your teachers have given you a solid foundation and orientation for the future. I wish you successful realization, preferably in Bulgaria, because your country needs you. Of course, do not break your ties with Germany. All the best for the future!" was Mr. Schenk's message.
Dr. Mitko Vasilev stated that receiving the diploma is the culmination of every student's efforts. "It is gratifying that the Faculty is developing, with an increase in specializations and students. Thanks to the hand extended by Germany more than 30 years ago, funding was secured for the training of faculty and students, as well as for the development of the Faculty's material base. The German Embassy has consistently supported the Faculty of Geodesy, Cartography and Environmental Protection throughout these years. Follow your dreams and invest in yourself on your upward journey!"
Mr. Ivelin Katsarkov congratulated the graduates on behalf of "Musala Soft" AD and wished them to confidently climb the ladder of their development. "Do not close the door to your university, support your faculty, become teachers yourselves. Dare greatly, much success and more smiles!"
