Students from the Technical University of Sofia achieved impressive success at the international "Rapid Response Challenge" 2026 competition, held in Munich, Germany. In competition with university teams from several European countries, the Bulgarian team placed third, demonstrating a high level of engineering training, creativity, and ability to work under pressure.

Participation in such an international forum requires in-depth technical knowledge. Students from TU - Sofia developed a drone, with which they performed excellently during the tests and demonstrated a high degree of stability and efficiency. According to the participants, this was the only aircraft that managed to land in the same way it took off - an achievement that speaks to the high quality of settings and construction. The students manufacture everything themselves and use only accessible materials, such as aluminum profiles, 3D-printed elements, and G10 plastic, instead of expensive custom components. The university provides funding for the battery.

Behind this success lies not only the enthusiasm and professionalism of the young engineers, but also the consistent support they receive from the Research Sector of the Technical University of Sofia, which supports student developments and encourages the participation of young researchers in scientific and applied projects. Such initiatives give students the opportunity to develop their ideas and work on current engineering challenges.
The team's achievement is proof of the high quality of engineering education at the Technical University of Sofia and of the successful link between education, research, and practical implementation.
Participation in the "Rapid Response Challenge" 2026 shows that when the talent and motivation of students meet a suitable academic environment and institutional support, the results are competitive at the European and global levels.
