
The second blitz chess tournament under the theme "80 years of Technical University – Sofia" was held with great interest and fierce competition. The organizers of the tournament were the Student Council at TU – Sofia and the Department of Physical Education and Sport at TU – Sofia. The tournament was opened by Corresponding Member Professor Dr. Eng. Georgi Todorov, Dean of FIT. The Chief Referee of the tournament was Dr. Radislav Atanasov.
After the intense and competitive 5 rounds of the tournament, the following winners stood out:
Female Students:
1st place - gold medal, Ralitsa Ilieva - FKST
2nd place - silver medal, Sonya Kryuchkova - FKST
3rd place - bronze medal, Ivayla Markova - FaGIOPM
Male Students:
1st place - gold medal, Boris Dimitrov - EF
2nd place - silver medal, Andrey Petrov - FPMI
3rd place - bronze medal, Mihail Krushevski - FPMI
Among doctoral students, the gold medals were won by Maria Dimova from EMF and Eng. Miroslav Petrov from FIT.
In the category of teachers, the gold medal was won by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilyan Ivanov from EF.
In 2026, chess enthusiasts at TU - Sofia can also expect an Easter format of the tournament.
The internal table tennis tournament for students, teachers, and university staff has also concluded. The tournament, held on the occasion of the Student Holiday - December 8, took place in the table tennis hall at the Department of Physical Education and Sports.

Winners of the individual matches among men training and competing for the representative team of TU - Sofia are:
1st place - Ivan Ivanov from FTK, awarded with a memorial cup in memory of Assoc. Prof. Velizar Lozanov
2nd place – Georgi Todovichin from FTK
3rd place – Ruben Melkonyan from FETT
3rd place – Blagoyoshev from FPIM

The individual competition for girls was won by:
1st place – Nikolaya Dimitrova from FPIM, awarded with a memorial cup in memory of Senior Preceptor Georgi Vasilev
2nd place – Dara Plachkova from FT
3rd place – Ivet Nikolova from MF
3rd place – Denitsa Radeva from FAGIOPM

The Faculty of Energy Machinery Engineering and the Faculty of Industrial Technologies were champions for the third consecutive year in the team tournament between faculty members and staff, with the following composition: Rusi Dzhambazki (team captain), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mladen Mitev, and Senior Lecturer Dr. Eng. Ana Borisova.
The team from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering took second place, composed of Eng. Stefan Tenev (team captain), Senior Lecturer Dr. Eng. Valentin Milenov, and Mag. Eng. Kamen Georgiev.
Third place was taken by a combined team from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports and the Faculty of Energy Machinery Engineering, consisting of Senior Lecturer Dr. Aleksandar Kapitanski (team captain), Honorary Lecturer Silvena Todorova, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Georgi Tomov from the Faculty of Energy Machinery Engineering.
Third place was also awarded to the team from the Technological College "Electronic Systems", composed of Lecturer Lachezar Peev (team captain) and Lecturer Kaloyan Angelov.
The cups and medals were provided by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, and the tournament was organized by Senior Lecturer Dr. Milcho Uzunov.

A badminton tournament was also held at the Sports Complex of TU - Sofia in honor of the 80th anniversary of the founding of TU - Sofia. It was held under the patronage of the Department of Physical Education and Sports at TU - Sofia and the Student Council. The tournament was opened by Vihren Peychev, head of the representative badminton and air badminton teams at TU - Sofia. The competition consisted of two disciplines: mixed doubles and men's doubles.


In the mixed doubles, champions were Nikola Dimitrov and Raya Petkova from FKST. Silver medals were won by Miroslav Petrov from FIT and Desislava Marinova from FTK, while bronze was won by Silvena Todorova from FPESS and Stefan Georgiev from FKST.

In the men's doubles discipline, champions were Nikola Grigorov and Sergey Kolotik from FKST. Second place was taken by Hristo Rashev from FPME and Radoslav Milov from FKST, while third place was shared by the pairs Stefan Georgiev / Ivailo Gerchev from FKST and Riaz Bhuyan from FKST / Georgi Todorov from FTK.
