The Union of Bulgarian Motorists, with the assistance of the Road Police under the General Directorate for National Police and Technical University of Sofia, has launched the first large-scale survey among active drivers in Bulgaria, "Together for Safer Roads".
The survey will be conducted from August 1 to September 15 at all branches of the UBM across the country, on the organization's website www.sba.bg/anketa, and through the initiative's partners. It is also supported by Mr. Andrey Novakov, Member of the European Parliament.
The aim of the study is to present the reasons why the number of road victims in the Republic of Bulgaria will not be reduced to 2020, in accordance with the National Strategy for Improving Road Safety, which is also in line with the European Union (EU) strategy. The organizers wish to achieve better awareness of road safety in the Republic of Bulgaria. Based on the survey results, an analysis of driver behavior will be conducted – when, why, and how they violate the Traffic Rules, what would motivate them to improve their road discipline, and where drivers primarily place the blame for the number of traffic accidents.
The analysis of the collected results from the survey will help identify and structure the causal relationships behind the number of severe road traffic incidents, injuries, and fatalities in the country. The presentation of the analysis to the media and relevant institutions will take place during the planned forum "Together for Safer Roads" on November 6, 2018, in Sofia, with the support and participation of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
