
Based on Article 32, paragraph 1, item 1 of the Higher Education Act and in connection with the decision adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria on 03.04.2020 to extend the term of the declared state of emergency for the purpose of limiting the danger of the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), by an order issued on 08.04.2020, the Rector of the Technical University – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, ordered the extension of the existing measures for the period from 13.04.2020 to 13.05.2020.
The order provides that in-person classes shall not be held at the university, the Technological College of Electronic Systems in Sofia, and the Professional College of Computer Systems and Technologies in the town of Pravets. Education will be exclusively non-residential with a remote format, including for the period 21.04.-24.04.2020.
Scheduled state exams and thesis defenses are canceled, as are all mass events at TU-Sofia, including conferences, discussions, public lectures, performances, cultural events, sports events, as well as meetings and assemblies of all units. Meetings of departmental, departmental, and faculty councils are permitted only as exceptions, in a remote format, and only decisions on issues that do not require secret voting will be taken.
Events related to urgent procedures are conducted when justified by necessity and with the permission of the Rector. It is recommended to postpone planned mass events for a period no earlier than the end of May.
Online submission of applications for taking exams in the candidate student sessions continues. The candidate student campaign proceeds according to the announced schedule, unless the epidemiological situation and the recommendations of the National Operational Headquarters necessitate a change.
All business trips and travel of academic staff, employees, doctoral students, and students abroad are maximally restricted, and upon their return, a 14-day quarantine period is recommended; this also applies to foreign teachers, researchers, and students arriving from abroad.
The introduced limited and controlled access to the academic, sports-recreational, and administrative buildings of TU-Sofia and all its subdivisions continues. In-person work of teachers and staff is carried out only with the permission of the Rector's administration and according to an approved schedule.
