Framework Agreement with Handong Global University, Korea

Just a month and a half after the official visit of H.E. Shin Bunam, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, to sign a framework agreement for academic and scientific cooperation, Mr. Deun Kim, Manager of International Relations for Europe at Handong Global University – a university focused on global leadership, especially in computer, electronic, and mechanical control engineering – arrived at the University on 17.01.2017. Both the previous and current presidents of the Korean university are engineers and place great emphasis on connections with European engineering education.

The agreement provides for the development and promotion of direct contacts between faculty, students, administration, departments, and chairs in educational and scientific fields of mutual interest to both universities. It foresees joint participation in the development of:

• projects under educational and research programs
• collaboration in creating modern research and training methods – distance learning, lifelong learning, etc.
• mutual consultations on academic plans
• academic structures and specialties 
• joint research and consulting activities, preparation and participation in national and international scientific conferences and symposia of common interest.

According to Mr. Deun Kim, the opportunities for cooperation with TU – Sofia are very large because he finds many similarities between our two countries. He showed special interest in our study programs, with the aim of determining which courses could be offered for student exchange.
