The Technical University offers two new specialties for the upcoming 2020/2021 academic year. Students will have the opportunity to study "Automotive Electronics" and "Business Informatics in German," or to choose development in one of the remaining over 30 bachelor's specialties at the university.
"We constantly maintain contact with business and industry, taking into account their needs – what is sought in the market and what kind of specialists they will need in the next 10-15 years.
The Bulgarian industry is mainly oriented towards the automotive sector, which is why we chose to launch the new specialty related to automotive electronics.
In our country, there are many investors from Germany, so one of our strongest faculties is the one for German engineering education," explained Prof. Lyubomir Dimitrov to Radio Sofia - Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs at TU-Sofia.
As in recent years, interest in computer specialties remains high.
"The competition for these specialties is the strongest. But I want to emphasize that without computers and software, without informatics, you will not be able to cope in any of the specialties," commented the Deputy Rector.
The applicant campaign of the Technical University ends on July 4. The results of the first ranking will be announced on July 10 and 11.
"The crisis has affected the educational process, of course. Some students and teachers are coping well, while for others it is more difficult. However, the number of applicants has not decreased, on the contrary. Perhaps the current situation will keep more young people in Bulgaria. And our rapidly developing economy definitely needs qualified personnel," Prof. Dimitrov added.
The higher education institution is ready to adapt to the epidemiological situation in the country and to start educational activities, both in-person and online.
