

At the general assembly of the university held on October 22, 2015, for the election of the rector, academic council, and control council, Prof. Georgi Mihov received 343 votes in his support (64% of the votes). The other two candidates were Prof. Vesko Panov – the current deputy rector, and Prof. Ognyan Nakov – dean of the Faculty of Computer Systems and Control. By the end of the calendar year, elections will be held in all units of TU – Sofia.
In his mandate program for the next 4 years, Prof. Mihov notes that he will work to establish the Technical University – Sofia as a significant regional educational and research center of European scale, contributing to the economic, social, and cultural prosperity of our society by providing highly qualified education and cutting-edge scientific research.
Georgi Slavchev Mihov (09.11.1954, Kardzhali) – engineer in radio electronics, professor of Digital Circuit Design (2007). He graduated from VMEI – Sofia, majoring in “Electronic Technology”, specialization “Electronic Nuclear and Medical Instrumentation” (1979). He defended his dissertation for “doctor” (PhD in Engineering) on the topic “Programmed Automated Electronic Devices for Processing and Visualization of Electrocardiosignals” (VMEI – Sofia, 1983) and his dissertation (Dr. Sc. in Engineering) on the topic “Research and Improvement of the Subtractive Method for Removing Interference from Electrocardiographic Signals” (TU – Sofia, 2013).
He began his professional career at VMEI – Sofia as an engineer in NIS (1979), research associate in NIS (III degree 1981, II degree 1983, I degree 1985), honorary assistant in Nuclear Electronics (1979), senior assistant (1986), and associate professor in Electronic Digital Devices and Systems (1990), professor in Digital Circuit Design (2007) in the Department of Electronic Technology. Functional dean of SKD and postgraduates (1992-1994). Deputy dean of FETT (1997-2004), head of the Department of Electronic Technology (2007-2010), Deputy Rector for Educational Activities, Quality and Accreditation of TU – Sofia (from 2010-2014). Rector of TU – Sofia (from 2014).
Main areas of teaching and scientific activity: digital electronics, microprocessor circuit design, diagnostics of digital electronic devices, industrial controllers and control systems
Activities outside TU-Sofia: Scientific Secretary of the National Scientific Council on "Electronic and Computer Engineering" at the State Commission for Accreditation (2004-2010). Member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (since 2010). Member of the Bulgarian Union of Engineers in Mechanical Engineering (section Biomedical Engineering).
