PROJECT "STUDENT INTERNSHIPS - PHASE 2" - INSTRUCTIONS AND SCHEDULE FOR STUDENTS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The submission of documents by students for participation in the project "Student Internships - 2" is temporarily suspended due to the exhaustion of the quotas allocated to the Technical University - Sofia and will be resumed on condition that additional quotas are granted. 

At the Technical University - Sofia, the project BG05M2OP001-2.013-0001 "Student Internships – Phase 2" has started, funded by the Operational Programme "Science and Education for Intelligent Growth" (OP SEIG). The project runs until the end of 2023.

"Student Internships – Phase 2" is directly aimed at providing practical training for students in a real working environment, which on the one hand will ensure an improvement in the quality of higher education and on the other hand will deepen the links between higher education institutions and the labor market. In addition to the opportunity for students to practice a profession in a real working environment, the project will contribute to direct dialogue between education and business, between theory and practice. The project continues the policy in higher education aimed at establishing a link between education and business, which began under the Operational Programme for Regional Development 2007-2013 with the project "Student Internships" and continued under the current operational programme with the project "Student Internships – Phase 1".

Practical training is conducted individually or in groups with the assistance and under the supervision of an employee of the training organization – mentor and under the control of a lecturer from the higher education institution – academic advisor.

Practical training is considered successfully completed, conducted in a real working environment, in fulfillment of tasks according to a pre-prepared program with a duration of 240 hours and within a period not exceeding 6 months. The program is prepared by the mentor of each training organization.

After the completion and reporting of the student's internship a scholarship in the amount of 600 BGN is paid.

CONDITIONS FOR STUDENT APPLICATIONS

To participate in practical training (internship) in a real working environment, can apply active students at Technical University – Sofia, which are registered in the Registry of Active and Discontinued Students and Doctoral Students, maintained by the Ministry of Education and Science (MES).

A student may be included in practical training under the project "Student Internships - Phase 2" once during their studies to obtain any of the educational and qualification degrees (EQF) in the respective specialization. Every student who is about to defend their thesis at the Bachelor's or Master's level may begin their internship during the period in which they hold student status, that is, before their thesis defense. This requires that the application procedure for student internship has been completed in accordance with the requirements and schedules specified below; it is not possible to submit documents to start a student internship immediately before the thesis defense.

Every student may choose the host organization that provides the practical training in the professional field of their studiesTo enable the implementation of a student internship at the selected training organization it is necessary for this organization to have concluded a contract with the Technical University – SofiaThe contract is concluded after at least one student has chosen the given training organization in the project participation information system and before the start of the first internship.

The project has the following constraints:

• One mentor can respond at the same time for no more than 10 confirmed students, participants in the internship.
• One teacher can be academic advisor at the same time for no more than 15 students, participants in the practical training.

This means that it is not possible for more than 10 students to have the same mentor during the same period, as well as that it is not possible for more than 15 students to have the same academic advisor during the same period.

STEPS FOR STUDENT REGISTRATION

Each student at TU-Sofia registers in the project system at the address: praktiki.mon.bg

Depending on the professional direction of their training, they select the corresponding training organization and program that matches the direction. The application is approved by the mentor, who is an employee of the training organization.

Then the student selects an academic advisor, who is an employee of TU-Sofia. The application is approved by the academic advisor.

Then the student prepares a training schedule, which is approved by the mentor and the academic advisor. The reported hours by the student as training at the training organization cannot exceed 8 hours per working day, nor can they be outside working hours for the respective training organization.

SUBMISSION OF CONTRACTS BY STUDENTS

The set of documents provided by the students includes: 

1. System-generated Contract (in 3 copies) and

2. System-generated Declaration (in 3 copies). 

The Contract and Declaration must be signed by the student.

To start a student internship, it is necessary for all documents from the student's side and from the training organization's side to be entered and confirmed in the system, including the insurance of each student. Insurance is mandatory for conducting any internship, but the conclusion of insurance is not a commitment of the students.

When generating a contract for practical training, please note that the start date for starting a given internship must be aligned with SCHEDULE FOR ACCEPTANCE OF STUDENT CONTRACTSAND, given below.
