
A delegation from Siemens Energy, led by Vice President Daniel Morel, visited the Technical University – Sofia. The guests met with Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, Vice Rector for Academic Activities, Accreditation, and Academic Staff, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Elitsa Gieva, Vice Rector for Scientific and Applied Activities. During the discussion, opportunities for cooperation between Siemens Energy and TU – Sofia were discussed.
Prof. Králov presented the Technical University – Sofia, its history, structure, and activities in the field of education and scientific research, emphasizing that the university participates in 5 Centers of Excellence and Centers of Competence, the largest of which is the National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies, equipped with world-class equipment. Prof. Králov noted that TU – Sofia operates three foreign-language faculties and is part of the European University of Technology EUt+, which unites nine universities from different countries and will become a federal entity, thereby opening up opportunities for student mobility and study at various campuses and obtaining a unified European diploma. Regarding academic activities and scientific research, he added that TU – Sofia emphasizes a close connection with business. Prof. Králov sees opportunities for cooperation with Siemens Energy in the creation of joint bachelor's and master's programs with foreign-language instruction.
Daniel Morel expressed readiness for cooperation in the field of automation and the use of artificial intelligence in energy, as well as participation in the practical training of students. The parties agreed to continue discussions to reach specific agreements and implement them in the foreseeable future.
Afterwards, the guests toured the laboratories at the National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies and were highly impressed by the modern equipment and the ambitious goals of the research teams.
