Pan-European Internship Programs 2021-2022
In January 2020, the Rector of TU-Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two European institutions:
- European Patent Office (EPO) Munich, Germany and
- European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Alicante, Spain.
Such a Memorandum has been signed by over 80 selected European universities, which is a recognition of their high prestige in Europe. According to the Memorandum, TU-Sofia can offer up to 10 graduating students each year to these European bodies for a one-year internship in the field of patent protection for inventions (EPO) and protection of trademarks and industrial designs (EUIPO). For this purpose, the two bodies provide one-year internship scholarships in the range of 1500 – 2000 euros per month. Students who have completed a bachelor's or master's degree no later than 2 years ago or those who have graduated this year and are graduating but have not yet received their diplomas (applying with an academic transcript) can apply to only one of the two bodies. The application process initially takes place within TU-Sofia, as candidates send their CV (European format with photo) to the contact person – Prof. Dr. Eng. Stefan Stefanov, Chairman of the Intellectual Property Commission (stefanov@tu-sofia.bg; +359 882 270 511), who compiles the candidates and sends a list approved by the Rector to the mentioned bodies, according to the candidates' choice. For engineering specialties, the European Patent Office is preferred. The included approved candidates submit their documents online to the chosen European organization
Deadlines:
- Application for internal selection at TU-Sofia – until March 21, 2021
- Online applications from approved students to ERO Munich or EUIPO Alicante – until March 31, 2021
- Results of the selection at ERO and EUIPO – until the end of June 2021
- Internship start – from September 16, 2021
