For March 8, the Alumni Center of TU - Sofia (Alumni) gifted us a meeting with eight successful women - our alumni
The pre-holiday meeting-discussion with eight successful women, part of the TU-Sofia alumni network, took place in the University's Library and Information Center on March 7, 2016, on the occasion of International Women's Day. The event was organized entirely at the initiative of the Alumni Center of TU - Sofia (Alumni). The discussion included Eng. Vanya Kuneva – Director of "Human Resources" at CEZ Bulgaria, Eng. Tsvetoslava Koseva – Vice President of "Business Development" at Metodiya AD, Eng. Vessela Kalacheva – Executive Director of BAIT, Eng. Galina Tosheva – Managing Partner at 3BI Advisors OOD, Eng. Desislava Aleksieva – Manager of "Marketing and Sales" at TECHIM; Emilia Lazarova – Director of the Second English Language High School "Thomas Jefferson" in Sofia, Eng. Manoela Georgieva – Managing Partner of ATM Consulting Partners OOD, and Elena Urumova – owner and manager of "Lena-Lena".
All of them have proven to be professional women with rich experience, holding leadership positions in fields that were recently dominated by men, such as energy and information technology.
Among the official guests were the Rector of the Technical University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Georgi Mihov, the Deputy Rectors for Educational Activities and Accreditation – Prof. Dr. Eng. Lyubomir Dimitrov, for Academic Staff and Coordination – Prof. Dr. Eng. Radi Romanski, for Scientific and Applied Activities – Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, the Chairman of the TU-Sofia Alumni Council and Director of the "Information and Public Relations" Directorate – Prof. Dr. Eng. Valeri Mladenov, the Director of the "International Activities" Directorate – Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Yachev, as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yordanka Chobanova – Advisor on European Affairs to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, and our lecturer at the Faculty of Automation and Information Technologies.
A special congratulatory address on the occasion of the thematic meeting-discussion was sent by Eng. Sasha Bezukhanova – Chairman of the Board of Trustees of TU – Sofia and founder and Chairman of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Center of Women in Technology and the "MoveBG" Foundation.
The discussion took place in the spirit of the holiday celebrating women's achievements in every sphere of society and discussed the role of education and the challenges faced by women in their career development. All participants were unanimous that the path to success for both genders is paved with great effort and a dose of luck, but they also highlighted the need for greater female presence in leadership positions in both the private and public sectors.
The host of the festive women's meeting on our premises was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yordanka Angelova – Deputy Chairman of the TU-Sofia Alumni Council.
