
On November 30, 2023, a delegation from FOM University of Economics and Management, Essen, was on an official visit to the Technical University – Sofia.
Attending the meeting were the Deputy Rector for Research at FOM University of Economics and Management, Prof. Thomas Hoepel, the first Rector of FOM, Prof. Franz Peter Lang, the Vice-Chancellor of FOM, Christoph Hohof, and participants in the scientific conference of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics (FaGIOPM). On behalf of TU – Sofia, Prof. Ivan Králov, Rector, Prof. Lidia Galbova, Deputy Rector for Scientific and Applied Activities, Assoc. Prof. Vasil Galbov, Dean of FaGIOPM, Prof. Marin Marinov, Director of the Doctoral School at FaGIOPM, and Prof. Stefan Stefanov, former Dean of FaGIOPM, were present.
Prof. Ivan Králov welcomed the guests and emphasized the important significance of cooperation with Germany and FOM for the education of students at TU – Sofia and for the development of scientific research activities. He thanked Deputy Rector Thomas Hoepel for the honor of being a member of the scientific council of FOM. "For me, it was not only a challenge but also a satisfaction to be able to contribute to the preparation and implementation of projects related to our common scientific interests." The Rector of TU – Sofia spoke about the achievements of the university, the established modern scientific infrastructure, and future plans related to modern directions in the development of technologies and engineering sciences.
Prof. Hoepel thanked for the warm welcome and successful cooperation and announced that the Technical University – Sofia and FaGIOPM have been accepted as members of the zdi – Zentrum MINT-Netzwerk Essen association, the Center for Future through Innovation, a joint initiative of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to encourage young people in natural and technical sciences. Both educational and research organizations and companies are members, thereby expanding the horizon for joint scientific research cooperation in solving specific practical problems of business.
Later, the German guests participated in the diploma awarding ceremony for the graduates of the German faculty and in the scientific conference of FaGIOPM.
