On December 14th and 15th, 2022, a scientific-pedagogical conference on the topic "Technologies and Techniques to Support Sustainable Education in the Academic Sphere" was held in the Conference Hall of the "National Center for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies", campus "Student City" (1 Rosario St., bl. 8). The organizer of the conference is the Department of Foreign Language Training and Applied Linguistics at the Technical University – Sofia. The Rector of the Technical University – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Králov, the Deputy Rector for Scientific and Applied Activities – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Lidia Galabova, the Director of the Department of Foreign Language Training and Applied Linguistics – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivaylo Peev, and the Director of the British Council in Sofia, Mrs. Lyubov Kostova, attended the opening of the conference.
The scientific-pedagogical conference "Technologies and Techniques to Support Sustainable Education in the Academic Sphere" is organized jointly with Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), which is a partner in the EUt+ project and is part of the initiatives of the Laboratory for Applied Research in Student-Centered Pedagogy and Training (ELaRa), part of the "European University Institute (EUI+)" project. The goal is to initiate and promote a fruitful dialogue among teachers, students, doctoral candidates, scientists, and researchers, and to become a free forum for popularizing their views and opinions in the context of sustainable development and a learner-centered approach. Special attention was paid on the first day to the further interpretation of teaching experience acquired in a digital environment, the sharing and application of good practices, as well as the offering of working solutions for their sustainable integration. The development of new and the improvement of known pedagogical and methodological models, integrating digital technologies as an integral part of pedagogical interaction in the 21st century, were discussed. The organizers believe that this ensures the necessary continuity between past achievements, knowledge, and experience, on the one hand, and future scientific research, on the other.
The thematic scope of the scientific-pedagogical conference covers current issues regarding the relationship between traditional and innovative pedagogy and the place of the doctoral candidate in the contemporary educational and scientific-research process in the digital age.
