
The application for the scholarship program "Women in Science" for 2018 has started
On December 1, the eighth edition of the National Scholarship Program "Women in Science" launched. The program once again challenges Bulgarian women scientists to demonstrate their enormous scientific potential by investing it in an original scientific project and applying for it through the program. At the end of the competition, three women will have the opportunity to realize their bold scientific ideas with financial support from scholarships of 5,000 euros each, provided by the National Program "Women in Science".
Partners of the National Scholarship Program "Women in Science" are Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the National Commission for UNESCO in Bulgaria, and L'Oréal Bulgaria. Applications will be evaluated by an expert jury consisting of leading scientific specialists.
Women scientists from all over Bulgaria can participate in the scholarship program for 2017–2018. They must be under the age of 35, be PhD students or have already defended their doctoral degree, and be engaged in research in the field of natural sciences. The goal of the program is to support the research work of young women in Bulgaria through scholarships and encourage them to continue their academic careers.
The National Scholarship Program is part of the global L'Oréal–UNESCO "Women in Science" program, created to recognize and support women whose achievements have contributed to the development of scientific knowledge, as well as to provide support for promising young women scientists with significant projects. It already exist in more than 100 countries, and in Bulgaria they appeared for the first time in 2010.
