"Become a CEZ Scholar" for students, 2019-2020 edition, was traditionally won by students of the Technical University – Sofia. This year, on the eve of May 24th, certificates were awarded to three of our students:
- Emiliya Hadzhiatanasova – 3rd year, major "Electrical Engineering", Faculty of French-language Electrical Engineering

- Yusuf Molla – 4th year, major "Power Engineering and Electrical Equipment", Faculty of Electrical Engineering

- Simeon Andonov – 3rd year, major "Power Engineering and Electrical Equipment", Faculty of Electrical Engineering

We met with them and asked them a few questions.
1. What motivated you to participate in the "Become a CEZ Scholar" competition?
- Emiliya: "I decided to apply for the CEZ scholarship because the company meets my career development aspirations. CEZ is one of the few companies that offer internships to many students, as well as mentors to help them during joint work. Internship during studies is of exceptional importance for students to develop into good specialists in their field."
- Yusuf: "I knew about this program thanks to my participation in two consecutive editions of the CEZ Academy. Without much thinking, I decided to apply. I believe this will be of great benefit to me and will help me continue to develop in this field. I am extremely motivated by the fact that the company is international and very well developed in all areas. This, in turn, provides huge opportunities for realization, both in Bulgaria and in the countries where CEZ operates. Last but not least, I want to emphasize that I have been a CEZ scholarship recipient for two consecutive years and given this, I do not need greater motivation than this."
- Simeon: "In the summer of 2019, I was an intern at 'CEZ Distribution Bulgaria', in the 'Ecology and Fire Safety' sector of the 'Quality Management' department. This first work experience of mine was very useful and I learned a lot about the subject of activity in the entire department, thanks to the good and collegial team I fell into. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to meet the company's activities firsthand, which is deeply connected with the specialty I am studying and in which I have the desire to develop as a specialist in the future. This was one of the reasons for me to apply for this scholarship."
2. Is it easy to make the university-career connection?
- Emilia: "The university-career connection is easy to make if the student has worked in their sector during the years of study and has accumulated technical experience. Students with unshakable knowledge in their field find the desired position easily and quickly."
- Yusuf: "I think so, it's relatively easy to make the connection between university and career. Mainly thanks to the career fair, which is held every year at the university and in other places in various forms such as presentations, academies, and the like. This is of great benefit to students, who, even before completing their education, have the chance to confront the real working environment and learn many practical things."
- Simeon: "Of course! I will use an analogy here. I believe that the university is the institution that serves as a bridge to the career path for us students, and the knowledge we accumulate there, thanks to the competent academic team and our own efforts, are the components that build this particular connection."
3. Do you recommend TU-Sofia to young people who want to pursue higher education? Why?
- Emilia: "As a student at the Technical University of Sofia in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, studying in French, I can share my admiration for the teachers and the administrative department, who always respond to the requests of their students. The French faculty offers education of an exceptionally high level, often compared to the level of universities in France. The faculty has many foreign partners, both universities where students can continue their education and companies that offer internships and positions for young specialists."
- Yusuf: "Personally, I would recommend TU-Sofia to every young person who wants to pursue higher education and develop. Because, first of all, TU-Sofia is the largest technical university in Bulgaria and one of the largest in Europe. TU-Sofia has an exceptionally wide range of specialties that provide opportunities for realization in various fields. Considering how technology and science are developing nowadays, I think TU-Sofia is the right choice for the development of young people."
- Simeon: "I highly recommend TU - Sofia to all applicants who have an affinity for engineering sciences and believe that this is the right direction for their development! At the university, they will meet exceptional and highly qualified people from the teaching staff, the majority of whom are proven professionals even outside their academic activities. They are always ready to show understanding and assist students in resolving issues that arise during the academic process. I won't hide that they may encounter difficulties, but if they are persistent and consistent, they will only benefit from them, as for an engineer and a person, it is extremely important to have the ability to solve problems in the easiest and fastest possible way. It is also important not to forget that there will always be someone to rely on in the form of their colleagues and teachers."
