On January 11, 2017, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev, was awarded an honorary gold medal with a ring, a tricolor ribbon with the recipient's name, a blue honorary sash, and an honorary certificate by the Rector of the Technical University of Sofia, Prof. Dr. Eng. Georgi Mihov. The distinction is given for significant contribution and merits in raising and establishing the authority of TU - Sofia at national and international levels. The ceremony took place in the hall of the Academic Council of TU - Sofia in the presence of the rectorate leadership, members of the AC, deans, and representatives of the university's board.
